Tithing and Giving

At Ebenezer Baptist Church, we understand tithing as a meaningful part of our worship. The word tithe means “a tenth,” and throughout the Bible, God’s people give a portion of what He has provided back to Him. Tithing is less about money and more about our trust, gratitude, and love for God.

Before the Law was ever given, believers like Abraham and Jacob offered a tenth to the Lord (Genesis 14:20; Genesis 28:22, NKJV). Their giving flowed from thankfulness, reminding us that generosity begins with recognizing God’s goodness.

Honoring God

Scripture teaches that the tithe is “holy to the Lord” (Leviticus 27:30, NKJV). It is a simple way to acknowledge that everything we have comes from Him and to support the ongoing work of ministry.

A Cheerful Spirit

Jesus affirmed the value of giving with sincerity (Matthew 23:23), and Paul reminds us that “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7, NKJV). Our giving should always be joyful, never pressured—a reflection of God’s generosity toward us.

Why We Give

We tithe because:

  • It honors God as our Provider.

  • It supports the ministry and outreach of the church.

  • It strengthens our faith and helps bless others.

At Ebenezer Baptist Church, we invite our church family to give as the Lord leads. Every tithe and offering helps us continue sharing Christ’s love and serving our community.
